assignment3.storyboard_FINAL

assignment3.storyboard

assignment3.narrative

A blank screen with some soft music to add some suspense to the following scenes which start off with several scenes in black and white with soft, dull music portraying a feeling of sadness, that the world is going to end or that there's is nothing else in the world to live for.
It then moves onto a new scene where it looks like there's only one bucket full of balls but as the camera pans out and changes angle, there are a numerous amount of buckets, all full of different coloured balls. One by one, each bucket with their own coloured balls are released back into the original black and white scenes at the start of the video clip.
As these balls touch the objects in the black and white scenes, they turn into colour, depending on what colour ball had touched that element. Relating back to my synopsis where I wanted to concentrate on colour and how individual colours add to a place but more importantly, the way colours combine with each other to create a unique relationship which helps add another dimension to the places. As the buckets of balls only have one type of coloured ball in them, when they are released into the black and white scenes, everything will turn that single colour, but as I release more buckets of balls with different colours, the relationship between the colours will be clearly evident showing how colours add to place. While this is happening, the music changes to a more up-beat tune creating a sense of happiness and finishes off with the initial scenes showed again but this time in colour, not black and white.

assignment3.synopsis

Erik Champion and Bharat Dave's paper, 'Where is this place?' explains the meaning of place, the possible features of a place and in which situations these features may vary.
Initially a place simply meant to me a space with a set function whether it be a bedroom, kitchen or an art gallery. The reading helps further define what a place is by talking about cultural presence within a place, arguing that a 'place is more a constrained and malleable container of localised activities, evoking associations of past events and stimulating future tasks'. Further on in the reading it is stated that, 'place is often imaginatively reconstructed through suggestion, rather than through realistic attention to detail alone', which relating back to architecture, it's not all about the function of a space, but is more about the effect on the interactions between the place and the external environment and the people and their beliefs.
This relates to the direction of my video where there are several features that make up a place from cultural presence, time or even character of a place. The feature that I want to concentrate on throughout my video is colour and how individual colours add to a place but more importantly, the way colours combine with each other to create unique relationships adding another dimension to places.

assignment3.150words

For the final video, I want to concentrate on colour or something similar to the Cadbury ad where whenever something is touched, it turns in chocolate. Drawing inspiration from the Sony ad with the bouncy balls which I initially used as inspiration for my previous video but ended up not using it, I was thinking of starting the video off in black and white and then throughout the video incorporating colour into it similar to bouncy balls and as these balls past the black and white elements, they turn back into its original colour.
